As if three new Galaxy S10 phones weren't enough, Samsung also announced a fourth version — its first phone to support 5G — at its Unpacked event in San Francisco.
The "Galaxy S10 5G" is more than just a phone that works on 5G networks. It's the largest Galaxy S phone yet with the biggest battery and fourcameras instead of three on the S10 and S10+.
It's an absolute monster of a phone.

To put the screen size into perspective: The Galaxy Note 9 has a 6.4-inch screen; the S10+ has a 6.4-inch screen; the S10 has a 6.1-inch display; and the S10e has a 5.8-inch screen.
The Galaxy S10 5G also has a massive battery — the largest in a Galaxy S phone — with a 4,500 mAh capacity that's larger than the Note 9's 4,000 mAh. It's good to see a bigger battery because 5G's gonna suck it up like there's no tomorrow.
Like the non-5G S10 phones, the 5G version will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip. It'll have 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. One thing the Galaxy S10 5G won't have: a microSD card for storage expansion.
In addition to the three cameras on the rear (wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide), there's also a fourth "Time of Flight" 3D depth camera used only to collect depth information. Samsung says this'll improve portrait photos (aka "Live Focus" photos") and also enable more accurate augmented reality experiences.
The rest of the Galaxy S10 5G is the same as the S10 and S10+:
Fast charging
Fast wireless charging 2.0
Wireless PowerShare
IP68 water- and dust-resistance
3.5mm headphone jack
10-megapixel selfie camera + depth sensor
Sounds great! When can you get the S10 5G? Samsung says it'll be released in the second quarter of 2019 as a limited time exclusive first on Verizon. Then, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint will get it later. Pricing is to-be-announced.
5G phones: They're real and coming this year. It doesn't matter which company is the firstto ship a 5G phone. What matters is it works. Not everyone will be able to get 5G service because the new networks won't be available everywhere. It'll still take a few years before 5G becomes mainstream, but if you are an early adopter and can get 5G, you'll be living in the future before everyone else.
