There are a whole lot of people who worship the movie The Princess Bride. Wisconsin Democrats are hoping those folks will pony up some cash to see the cast get together.
A truly impressive cast of characters — including Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Carol Kane, Chris Sarandon, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, and Rob Reiner — are going to do a virtual table read of the script on Sept. 13. Then comedian Patton Oswalt will moderate a virtual Q&A with the cast of the 1987 classic, which was directed by Reiner.
It seems like the film's cast aren't big fans of President Donald Trump, who won Wisconsin's electoral college votes in the 2016 election.
"I think most people are aware by now that Donald Trump has completely abdicated his duties as President to represent and stand up for all Americans. He has failed to keep the country safe from COVID-19 and as a result he is responsible for the devastating chaos, violence and economic collapse that we are now experiencing," Elwes said in a statement.
"If America is going to have a real chance at healing we must get rid of Trump. And that is only possible if we win Wisconsin. I am thrilled to be part of this very rare reunion of my colleagues from The Princess Brideas a way to increase awareness and garner resources for the state that will determine the fate of America."

You have to donate to the Wisconsin Dems to watch the virtual table read but there's no minimum amount. The event will go live on at 7:00 p.m. ET on Sept. 13. Wisconsin is one of a few key battleground states that many observers believe will determine if Democrats can take back the White House.
"The 2020 election is just like The Princess Bride: giants, monsters, chases, escapes, miracles," Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler said in a statement. "We’re thrilled that some of the world’s greatest stars are joining us to relive the magic of my favorite movie in the world and help us safely navigate the fire swamp of Wisconsin politics."
Wisconsin has been at the center of the national news lately. The city of Kenosha has seen mass protests since police shot and killed Jacob Blake, a Black man, in August. A local militia group's subsequent "call to arms" for right wing supporters is believed to have led to one 17-year-old man's alleged shooting of three protesters.
