Over a decade before Wonder Woman, before Black Pantherwas even a twinkle in Kevin Feige's eye, there was Catwoman– to this day, still the only Marvel or DC live-action movie led by a woman of color.
The problem was, it was terrible. So terrible, even its writer can't resist the opportunity to drag it on social media.
SEE ALSO:'Black Panther' proved there's a demand for more diverse superhero movies. Will Hollywood deliver? It started when someone asked an inane question about why Catwomanhasn't enjoyed the level of support that Black Pantherhas. Rogers is, by his estimation, one of about six to 12 writers who worked on the film over the course of its development. (Not all of them are credited by name.) Even before the film opened, Rogers knew it was going to be bad.

As they say, hindsight is 20/20. But some of the decisions made on Catwomanare so baffling, it's easy to believe the writers knew, even as they were working on it, that this film was getting seriously screwed up.
Like changing the lead character from Selina Kyle, a beloved character from comics, film, and TV, to Patience Phillips, an entirely new and unrelated character invented just for this movie.
Rogers says she'd already been changed by the time he came on, and that he was told it was a rights issue involving Batman Returns.

And yes, the situation behind the scenes was just as confused as you'd expect.

Rogers was reluctant to spill toomany details on Twitter, saying he was "legally" barred from revealing certain things. But if you want to hear more from him, there may be an easy way to get him to open up.
