LONDON -- American actress and apparent British politics enthusiast Lindsay Lohan was a vocal supporter of the Remain camp during the UK's EU referendum in June.

She made her views known in a series of tweets that have since been deleted, but not before her opining captured the attention -- and the ire -- of the English village of Kettering. 。

She mentioned the town specifically by name in a tweet:  。

However, the BBC reports that a spokesman for Kettering Borough Council said the authority had attempted to reach the actress' management to verify her attendance, but never received confirmation. He went on to say, "They have not requested any detailed information about tonight's event so we have naturally come to the conclusion that she will not be coming."。
