It's rare in Hollywood to find authentic, layered stories about multifaceted women, but the good news is, it's getting less rare. A notable case on the subject is the filmography of screenwriter Diablo Cody, the scribe behind 2007's。 Juno。Juno。(her first film, for which she won an Oscar), 2011's。Young Adult 。 , and — opening this weekend — the remarkable 。Tully 。

Cody has been in Hollywood for roughly a decade since 。 Juno 。was produced. In that time, she's seen a steady uptick in the demand for female-driven stories and more women behind the camera.。

"We're still feeling the immediate aftershocks from [Time's Up and #MeToo], and that’s also been fascinating to observe," she added. "It’s interesting to know that the young women who are coming up in the business right now are entering a completely different Hollywood. "I think I was possibly treated differently than the average young woman entering the business at that time, because I had kind of famously come from an overtly sexual environment," Cody said. It's difficult for her to say more, though she's been wanting to talk and write about her experience for some time. "It's too scary," she explained. "It's a really delicate subject ... all I want to do is just support people who have been through shit." 。
