The Harry Potterspinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has found the one ingredient it was missing in order to cast a spell on audiences, as Zoe Kravitz has joined the Harry Potterspinoff, Mashablehas confirmed.
David Yates is directing Fantastic Beasts, which stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller and Colin Farrell.
Set in New York 70 years before the events depicted in the Harry Pottermovies, the spinoff follows Newt Scamander (Redmayne), a Magizoologist who crosses paths with witches and wizards as he searches for magical creatures. The book he ends up writing about his experiences is later part of the curriculum at Hogwarts, where Harry and his friends go to school.
The Hollywood Reporterbroke the news that Kravitz, who joined the film after it already started production, will have a small role in Fantastic Beasts, though it may expand in the sequel, which just landed a release date of Nov. 16, 2018. The first film arrives this year on Nov. 18.
Kravitz recently appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road, the well-received indie Dopeand the Divergentfranchise. She recently wrapped the HBO miniseries Big Little Liesand is slated to star alongside Scarlett Johansson in the Sony comedy Rock That Body. She's represented by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment.
