Donald Trump has some unlikely fans in India. A right-wing Hindu fringe group in India celebrated the billionaire politician's 70th birthday in New Delhi today morning with a bizarre ceremony.

The birthday celebrations were held at Jantar Mantar, a Delhi landmark, and included a three-tier cake, balloons, a live music performance and posters of Trump carrying a rifle.
The organisers included around 20 Hindu Sena members dressed in party hats. After observing a minute's silence for the victims of the Orlando shooting, the group sang happy birthday and then cut the cake, even smearing a bit on Trump's poster.
"We are celebrating his birthday because he is our hero," Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta told reporters. "We wish that he lives for thousands of years and wipes out Islamic terrorism from the entire world." Gupta also urged Indian-Americans to support Trump with "votes" and "notes", i.e. cash donations.
Trump's birthday party had been preceded by an open invitation that described Trump as the "saviour of humanity".

Last month, the Hindu Sena had also organised ritual prayers for Trump, asking Hindu gods to help him win the U.S. presidential election. During the course of his Presidential campaign, Trump has proposed a controversial ban on Muslims entering the United States.
The celebrations also led to numerous jokes on Twitter.
