BERLIN -- Acer's mainly known for its PCs. But in recent years, as the number of PCs sold has declined, the company has started expanding into new markets like the growing 'petwear' industry.
At tech show IFA 2016, the Taiwan-based company announced its acquisition of PawBo Inc., maker of the PawBo, a wireless interactive pet camera.

With the acquisition, the company introduced a new version of the PawBo called the PawBo+ with 720p HD recording and a wider 130-degree wide-angle lens.
The pet camera still connects with smartphones and tablets, and lets pet owners see and play with their furry friends, but now up to eightpeople can connect with the device simultaneously and interact with them.
The PawBo+ supports two-way talk, multiple PawBo device controls, has a laser-pointer game, dispenses treats, and lets you share photos and videos to social media.
Looks cool and the Amazon reviews for the original PawBo are pretty positive.
In addition to the PawBo+, Acer's also introduced a new family of PawBo smart petwear devices.
The PawBo Flash is a pair of infrared 'ears' that attach to the PawBo+ and let it see in the dark. The PawBo Munch dispenses treats as pets do tricks. The PawBo Catch is essentially a cat-teasing stick and the PawBo Punch pops up a little rodent to keep pets occupied.
Acer's new PawBo devices will be available for pre-order for $169 from Sept. 1, with deliveries expected in November.
