Wonder Woman 2has just been set to hit theaters November 1, 2019 – a full six weeks earlier than the previously announced December 13, 2019 release date.
SEE ALSO:'Wonder Woman' takes the title of highest grossing superhero origin storyNo official reason was given for the change, but it probably has something to do with the fact that Disney has Star Wars: Episode IXset for December 20, 2019. And maybe also the fact that Thor: Ragnarokjust did ginormous numbers in the corresponding weekend of this year.
As of now, Wonder Womanhas that November 1, 2019 release date all to itself – though Fox has November 22, 2019 reserved for an as-yet-untitled Marvel movie. (Yeah, the superhero movie wave doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon.)
Whatever the thought process behind this shift, we're not complaining. Patty Jenkins will return to direct Wonder Woman 2. Gal Gadot is expected to reprise the lead role, although a recent report suggested she might not return if producer Brett Ratner does.
