At least 100 passengers landed for a holiday in Bali without their bikinis and board shorts on Saturday.
Air Asia was forced to unload a massive amount of checked-in luggage off Flight QZ535, which was heading to Denpasar, Bali from Perth, Australia at 11:20 a.m. local time on Saturday.
"In order to account for weight restrictions, 104 pieces of check-in baggage was off-loaded from the aircraft prior to departure," the airline said in a statement emailed to Mashable Australia.
The weight restrictions were due to the plane taking off from a shorter runway at short notice, the company advised.
Passenger Dennis McDougall told The West Australian there were no announcements, just a holiday without clothes. He was one of the lucky ones. The other passengers learned their fate at the luggage belt in Denpasar, when only a small amount of luggage turned up.
"We were watching them unload the plane before we boarded but we assumed that it was from the flight that just landed. They could have said in Perth what was happening but they said nothing," McDougall said.
The passengers left colder conditions in the Western Australia capital, before landing in a humid Bali, with temperatures at 30 degrees Celsius. According to the airline, the passengers luggage was returned the next day, less than 24 hours after the flight landed.
"The check-in baggage was then loaded onto QZ545, which departed Perth for Denpasar at 5.10pm on 9 April 2016, and delivered to passengers early on 10 April 2016," the airline said in the statement.
Not so handy when you smell a little funky and are stuck wearing a puffer jacket on the beach.
